Presentations and Workshops

We are happy to visit schools and colleges and talk to students on the many aspects of higher education. The topics we offer are detailed below, although all can be adapted to suit specific requirements and we can create new presentations on request.

- This presentation is a great way to get students thinking about the variety of higher education courses on offer in the UK and the application process. We will consider the wide range of benefits of post-18 study as well as giving the students basic tips on how to choose a course and university.

- An interactive workshop exploring the different research tools available, including prospectuses, websites, league tables and open days. We will also explain about the UCAS tariff, entry requirements and gap years. Students will have the opportunity to practice their research skills using various prospectuses in our information quiz. This session aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge to research their HE choices effectively.

- This session aims to provide an insight into what it's really like to be at university, by giving pupils the opportunity to hear from current students. The student life session can be conducted either as a presentation or an interactive discussion in small groups, depending on the situation.

- This presentation covers the UCAS application from start to finish, including top tips on long listing and short listing institutions and courses, research tools, how to apply and additional admissions tests

- Preparing for Open Days
- To prepare your students for our open day events, we offer this workshop session which is delivered at a mutually convenient time in your school/college and aims to help the students make the most out of their visit. The session considers what to do before the day, questions to ask and advice on making the most of open day programmes.
- Although this session is specific to The University of Nottingham open day, the skills discussed will be of use wherever the students decide to go.

- This presentation gives students information about the additional admissions tests that are required for Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine (UKCAT and BMAT) and Law (LNAT). - A presentation detailing the current financial arrangements for higher education, clearly explaining the types of repayable and non-repayable financial support available to students. We will also consider the issue of students working part-time while studying and offer some top tips on how to budget when living independently.

- Mock Interviews
- Designed to facilitate the interview process, mock interviews provide prospective students with a 'real life' interview situation. Staff will lead the interviews with example questions, and provide feedback afterwards for the student to consider.
- Please note that students who have applied for courses at Nottingham would not be given questions used in real interviews for their chosen course.

- An interactive session designed to address the personal and social worries that students experience before starting in higher education. Created as a reassuring discussion for post-application pupils, this session is a great activity for older pupils and aims to put their mind at ease.
