Onsite Events at The University of Nottingham
As well as offering activities held within your school or college, we also arrange a variety of events for students at our campuses in Nottinghamshire.
Taster days
- Certain academic departments offer taster days during the year, which are interactive sessions specifically designed for school groups who wish to find out more about a specific subject. In recent years, we have offered taster days in economics, computer science, modern languages and biology. If you are interested in bringing a group to one of these events, please email nathalie.thomas@nottingham.ac.uk
Onsite visits
- A day at Nottingham's University Park Campus can be arranged for your Year 12 school group, to provide an insight into a large campus university. Visits usually last about four hours and include a tour as well as a session from those listed on our presentations page. We will customise the programme to suit your students' specific requirements, so please do contact us if you'd like to discuss a potential visit. All visits will be supported by our student ambassadors, giving pupils the opportunity to meet current university students.
- Please click on the following link if you'd like to view a sample programme.
- Please note that the summer term is a particularly busy time for onsite visits. We recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment. If you'd like to arrange an onsite visit for a Year 12 group, please email lucy.ingham@nottingham.ac.uk
“The campus was really pretty and the accommodation was nice. Our tour guide was very friendly and answered all my questions. Friendly atmosphere too” Year 12 student, St Ninian's High School, Isle of Man
Open days
- We hold several University-wide undergraduate open days during the year: two in June and two in September. These events provide students who are considering a degree at The University of Nottingham with an excellent opportunity to experience our campuses and find out more about our academic and student life.
- We encourage school/college group bookings for these events and usually welcome approximately 2,000 students as part of school-arranged visits at the Friday open day in June. This is in addition to those students who register to visit with their family and friends.
- For school groups who book to visit on the Friday open day in June, we also offer all accompanying teachers the opportunity to attend our complimentary teachers' lunch. During your meal, you will have the opportunity to talk to schools liaison staff and admissions tutors from a variety of academic departments, and ask any questions you may have. For the dates of our upcoming open days and details on how to book places for a school or college group, please visit www.nottingham.ac.uk/opendays.
