“Work hard, play hard. Take responsibility for your own learning but don’t forget it’s important to let your hair down and
have a great time once in a while!”
“As an international student who had never been to the UK before, Nottingham appealed to me as it’s known for being a modern international university with excellent teaching. However, it was the veterinary course that cemented my decision to study here. The course develops and strengthens our practical skills from day one. In essence, we will graduate with extensive hands-on experience, making us prepared for work and ready to excel. The course has exceeded my expectations and I don’t think I could have chosen anything better.
The teaching staff are wonderful. They are knowledgeable and interested in the work they do, as well as extremely helpful and open-minded. The facilities are ultra-modern and include well-equipped dissection, surgery and radiology rooms, along with a large clinical-skills lab. There are kennels and even a small holding on site so we can practise with both large and small animals. We also get the chance to travel on placements and research projects and I’ll be spending three months in Australia studying diseases in Tasmanian devils.
Outside of my course, I’m involved in several extracurricular
activities. I’m President of the International Society at Sutton
Bonington, Secretary of The University of Nottingham
Veterinary Zoological Society and a member of the theatre
group and Archery Club. Being involved gets you away from
your books, helps you meet new people, and makes sure you
get the most out of your experience at university.
The School gives students all the support they need to find a job, and runs a whole module dedicated to developing personal and professional skills, and teaching you how to communicate effectively with clients and conduct research projects. I hope one day to achieve my lifelong dream of working with wildlife and exotic animals.”
