“If you want to do physiotherapy, The University of Nottingham should always be a top choice and I definitely recommend it.”

Keval Panchal

Course: BSc Physiotherapy (second year)

“The reputation of The University of Nottingham was what persuaded me to apply here, and the fact that the physiotherapy course was held in such high regard.

I would definitely recommend this course because it is well structured and allows us to pin down all the essential theory before we go out on placements. By shadowing qualified physiotherapists, you gain real insight into what it's all about in a practical sense. There’s great student satisfaction and everyone on the course is so friendly and supportive. Our practitioners and researchers are all highly regarded with a vast amount of experience to share with us and the facilities and equipment at our disposal are everything you’d expect at a professional level.

I particularly enjoyed the Neuromuscular and Skeletal Studies module as this focuses on the physiology of the human body and has a lot of practical aspects. I also find the Pathophysiology module interesting because we delve into all the unusual types of disease. I’m considering studying abroad on my elective placement, as the School has links with organisations abroad. I’d either like to go to Africa or South Asia where I could make a real difference as the practice of physiotherapy is quite limited.

Outside my studies I am currently Sports Secretary for the Physiotherapy Association and take part in social events which the association and Students’ Union organise, such as charity events and other socials which bring all the physiotherapy students closer together. Last year a few of us from our course even climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.

My preferred area is sports physiotherapy but over the last year I have learnt that every field is genuinely interesting, and the practical emphasis of the course has given me all the skills I’ll need wherever I start my first placement."
