“The first three weeks are a whirlwind of information and events. Enjoy it and remember everyone feels exactly the same!”

Course: Law (third year)

“I’ve been sure that Nottingham is where I want to study since my first open day. When I visited, I was impressed with the University’s picturesque location, the friendliness of the people I encountered, the campus and the city itself.

Law at Nottingham has offered me the chance to expand and develop my individual interests with the support and guidance of respected academics. The year abroad scheme also helps you develop personally and acquire life skills that will be useful in future employment.

The course has more than lived up to my expectations – it’s pushed me academically to achieve my full potential in what is a demanding but rewarding and insightful course. There are excellent support links should you need them and always a friendly face in the mornings.

The School provides a high level of teaching and is supported by facilities such as law-specific computer
rooms, workspaces and an extensive law library. I have found the tutors and lecturers inspirational, approachable and dedicated to their subject and it is a privilege to be taught by academics who are leaders in their field. I have also enjoyed studying and socialising with other students who are of a similar personality and drive. Everyone is dedicated but manages to strike the right work-life balance.

I decided against applying for a year abroad after I was successful in my campaign to be President of the Law Society. As a committee, we organise social events like induction parties, river cruises, trips to the theatre, and winter and summer balls. The Law Society also supports
a number of careers evenings and presentation days which big law firms attend. Currently, I am applying for training contracts with international law firms in London and hope to become a commercial solicitor.

Putting Nottingham down on my UCAS form was a decision that changed my life – the opportunities are endless.”
