"Get involved in as much as you can - it's your chance to try things out."
“When I came to visit Nottingham, I loved the campus and the city. There’s a really nice contrast between the green self-contained campus and the large open city. Nottingham is an incredible city - there's always something going on. The shopping anf nightlife are amazing!
One of the best things about my course is that it covers different areas of psychology – it includes quite a lot of neuroscience, which is really interesting. Another thing I like is the flexibility you have in the third year to focus on what interests you. For example, you have a choice of research project, which is really good for an undergraduate course.
There are lots of things to get involved in at Nottingham. I’ve done quite a bit through the Student Volunteer Centre. In the first year, I worked for Headway House, which is a charity for people with brain injuries, and I’ve helped with B-eat, a self-help group for people with eating disorders. I also played netball for my hall and for School of Psychology.
The Department and the careers service have both given me a lot of support. There are extra seminars on things like how to get into clinical psychology, which is something I think I’d like to do. After I graduate, I’d like to do a research-based PhD, and then apply for clinical psychology training.”
